Abbott looks for goals at Newcastle

This weekend Opposition Leader Tony Abbott  with his shoal of remora minders and the selected parliamentary press crews landed on the huge airstrip at Newcastle Waters station in the NT. The airport a legacy of the late Kerry Packer, one-time owner of this cattle station as well as many others. Abbott paraded about for the cameras, asked silly questions of NW manager, patted a brahman bull on the bum and nervously steered a road train prime mover. Abbott made unanswerable demands of Gillard who was at the same time making similar but unanswerable demands of Abbott. PM Gillard was asking Abbott to present his carbon payment alternatives to treasury officials for scrutiny while Abbott suggested he and Gillard fly to Indonesia and ‘sort out’ the live export debacle.
